Annie’s Paint Colours for 2025

Chocolate browns, warm caramels, spicy reds and all things earthy and natural are the colours for 2025. These warm cocooning colours are a reaction to years of more Scandi-inspired grey and blue toned colours.

Rich deep Tyrian Plum is my number one pick for 2025. It’s a wonderfully rich and mellow colour and has been making an appearance as a supporting shade for the past few years. Now’s the time for this sophisticated earthy purple to take centre stage!

A dramatic and rich jewel-toned aubergine with both maroon and red elements, Tyrian Plum is a homage to the ancient pigment, Tyrian purple (traditionally harvested from snails) – a dye so sought-after that its use was controlled by Ancient Greek legislation!

Tyrian Plum’s warmth, ripeness and depth of pigment pairs beautifully with other jewel tones like Knightsbridge Green or Oxford Navy. It will flatter north-facing spaces and works especially well in intimate spaces like dining rooms and bedrooms.

You can’t fail to see how brown is back on trend and one of my favourite browns is warm cocoa-toned Honfleur, named after the harbour town in Normandy where I have a house. This quietly colourful tone works well with bright colours such as Scandinavian Pink and Antibes Green. It can also look elegant and classical when paired with soft pastels like Duck Egg Blue or baby pink Antoinette.

I also love earthy Honfleur with cool or neutral cream tones (anything too warm risks looking yellow) for a very plush and luxurious 70s feel. Use some pure black too for structure and focus.

The interiors world can’t get enough of spicy paprika shades at the moment. Paprika Red is a rich reddish-orange hue which is surprisingly versatile and works well in any room in your home. Paprika Red works well with other earthy tones like dusty Piranesi Pink or mustard Carnaby Yellow, but it also works wonderfully with contrasting shades like Aubusson Blue or Capability Green.

Deep, moody hues such as browns, purples, and dark reds naturally feel refined and elegant but if you want a soothing restful look, you can’t go wrong with Canvas – my go-to neutral.

This organic, putty-toned taupe acts as a wonderful backdrop for other colours. Balanced, earthy neutrals are wonderful organic shades which create a calming effect in the home and make your home feel sophisticated. Canvas is a warm shade which brings a sense of grounded comfort and elegance to a space; it’s versatile and timeless and one of our best-selling colours that will never go out of fashion.

Mid tone blues are also having a moment. They strike the perfect balance between being a statement colour whilst being neutral enough to work with any interior style.

Cambrian Blue is a mid-tone blue, like a dark denim and I chose it because, like dark denim, this perennially cool and hard-working shade will go with everything.

I like to use strong blue greys with depth and nuance like Cambrian Blue to anchor a bedroom scheme and create a feeling of reassurance. Blue is a powerfully calming colour, perfectly suited to creating a mindful atmosphere.

Pair Cambrian Blue with natural materials such as wood and stone, or contrast with metals like brass or copper. Add highlights of warm colours like rich Paprika Red or deep yellow Arles – they are a fabulous foil to Cambrian Blue and just a few small accents will lift the whole scheme.

Because my colour palette for 2025 is warm and earthy, all these colours will work together beautifully or on their own.
